The upshot of remote work.
Remote work brings an abundant list of upsides for clients.
Software and assets.
Working on my own gear boosts productivity no end. I can get stuck into any project without distractions and have everything I need at hand. Just one of the benefits of remote work.
Software.
All industry standard software, all up-to-date.
Assets.
A large bank of vectors, icons, brushes, fonts, mock-ups and templates.
Workflow.
A library of scripts, plugins, and other automation workflows.
Preferences.
Prefs set-up how I like them, so I can work faster.
Time Sheets.
Clockify time-tracking software. All jobs are accurately time-tracked.
Security.
Client work, VPN and FTP are secure with virus and malware protection.
Tech set-up.
In terms of tech, I’ve got everything I need in my office. It’s another big gain for remote work. The poor in-house freelancer often works on an old 2015 iMac with a hard drive full of all sorts.
Hardware.
High-spec Mac Studio with a Studio Display, plus two other monitors.
Backup.
A 12TB Raid server that backs up all the files I work on.
Fibre Connection.
Super fast fibre broadband. Transferring files of any size is easy.
Cloud.
All file backups are securely pushed to the cloud.
Solar.
I’m solar-powered, using almost zero electricity from the grid. Carbon friendly.
Files and Servers.
A number of my regular clients give me remote VPN or FTP access to their work server.
Comms.
Remote briefings and work reviews are never a problem.
Working day.
Organising the workday around family and other commitments is another of the benefits of working remotely.
Start.
Arriving at my desk well before 9am. And don’t stray too far from it all-day.
End.
5:30pm to 6pm is fine. But if I worked at a client office, I’d have to leave much earlier due to childcare.
Childcare.
Working from home I can easily manage childcare commitments.
Commute free.
Finally, there’s the commute. Working from home is a more sustainable way of working that every business should be addressing.
Time.
No commute saves at least 1.5hrs a day. That’s more time to focus on client work.
Cost.
No travel or parking costs.
Sustainability.
No travel carbon emissions are produced. Added to the solar power I have at home and it’s win‑win.
There are no ‘working in pyjamas’, ‘down at the cafe’ or ‘from the beach’ days. Every day is a full, productive working day.
All these benefits are big gains for the clients I work with, and can benefit you too. Get in touch if you want to hire a productive freelancer.
